Ubuntu Linux Stop a Process
To stop a process in Ubuntu Linux, you can use the kill command in the terminal. The basic syntax is:
kill PIDWhere SIGNAL is the signal you want to send to the process, and PID is the process ID of the process you want to stop. By default, the kill command sends the SIGTERM signal, which tells the process to gracefully shut down.
If the process is not responding to the SIGTERM signal, you can send the SIGKILL signal, which forces the process to shut down immediately, using the following command:
kill -9 PIDTo find the PID of the process you want to stop, use the ps command, which lists all running processes, or the top command, which shows a real-time view of running processes.
