If your numeric keypad is disabled in Gnome, it may be because the mouse keys feature has been turned on. Mouse keys allow you to control the mouse pointer with the numeric keypad.
To turn off mouse keys and enable the numeric keypad in Gnome, follow these steps:
- Open the Gnome Control Center. You can do this by clicking on the Activities menu in the top left corner of the screen and searching for “Control Center”, or by opening a terminal window and running the command
gnome-control-center
. - In the Control Center, click on the “Universal Access” icon.
- Under the “Pointing and Clicking” section, toggle the switch for “Mouse Keys” to the off position.
- Close the Control Center.
Your numeric keypad should now be enabled and you can use it to input numbers.
