HowTo: Mediawiki Reset a User Password

If you need to reset a user password in MediaWiki, you can do so by following these steps:

1. Log in to your MediaWiki website with an administrative account.
2. Navigate to the user's profile by searching for their name in the search bar or by clicking on their name if it's visible on a page.
3. Click on the "User rights" link in the left-hand navigation bar.
4. Scroll down to the "Change password" section and click on the "Generate" button next to "New password".
5. You can either copy and paste the generated password to give it to the user or you can click the "Save" button to set the password and send a notification email to the user with the new password.
6. If you choose to send the email, MediaWiki will prompt you to confirm that you want to send the email.
7. After the password has been reset, the user can log in with the new password and change it to something more memorable.
