Cloud storage providers like Dropbox not only make it easy to back up our work and personal files, but also to share files and collaborate with others. Dropbox is, without a doubt, one of the most popular solutions, but it’s proprietary, limited in terms of features if you’re using the free plan, and cloud-based only. That means that your files are stored on Dropbox’s servers, and you can’t, for example, self-host your own instance. There are some good Dropbox competitors out there that offer good security and features at a more affordable price.
