To lock the desktop or screen on an Apple OS X system, you can use the following steps:
- Go to the Apple menu in the upper left corner of the screen and select “Sleep.”
- To lock the screen immediately, press “Control + Shift + Power” button or “Control + Shift + Eject.”
- You can also use the hot corner feature to lock the screen. Go to “System Preferences” and select “Security & Privacy.” Click on the “General” tab and enable the “Hot Corners” option. Then select “Put Display to Sleep” for one of the corners.
- Another option is to use a keyboard shortcut. Go to “System Preferences” and select “Keyboard.” Click on the “Shortcuts” tab and then “Mission Control.” In the left panel, select “Screen Saver” and assign a keyboard shortcut.
- If you have a Mac with Touch ID, you can also use it to lock the screen. Go to “System Preferences” and select “Security & Privacy.” Click on the “General” tab and enable the “Require password [time period] after sleep or screen saver begins.” You can then use Touch ID to unlock the screen.
