Kubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex) and Kubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope) are both no longer supported versions. However, for upgrading from one version to another, it is recommended to upgrade through each intermediate version. In this case, to upgrade from Kubuntu 8.10 to 9.04, you should follow the following steps:<\/p>\n

  1. Backup your important data before proceeding.<\/li>\n
  2. Make sure your system is up-to-date. Run the following commands in the terminal:\n
    \n
    <\/div>\n
    sudo apt-<\/span>get<\/span> update<\/span>
    \nsudo apt-<\/span>get<\/span> upgrade
    \n<\/code><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  3. Open the \/etc\/apt\/sources.list<\/code> file in a text editor using the following command:\n
    \n
    <\/div>\n
    sudo nano \/etc\/apt\/sources.list
    \n<\/code><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  4. In the text editor, replace all instances of intrepid<\/code> with jaunty<\/code>.<\/li>\n
  5. Save the changes and exit the text editor.<\/li>\n
  6. Run the following command in the terminal:\n

    sudo apt-<\/span>get<\/span> update<\/span>
    \n<\/code><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  7. Upgrade the distribution by running the following command:\n
    \n
    <\/div>\n
    sudo apt-get<\/span> dist-upgrade
    \n<\/code><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  8. Follow the instructions presented during the upgrade process.<\/li>\n
  9. After the upgrade is complete, reboot your system.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
