To open or extract a .rar file on a Mac running OS X, you can use the following steps:<\/p>\n

  1. Install a third-party extraction tool that supports RAR files. Two popular options are The Unarchiver and StuffIt Expander. Both of these tools can be downloaded for free from the Mac App Store.<\/li>\n
  2. Once you have installed an extraction tool, locate the .rar file that you want to extract.<\/li>\n
  3. Double-click on the .rar file to open it in the extraction tool.<\/li>\n
  4. In the extraction tool, select the destination folder where you want to extract the contents of the .rar file.<\/li>\n
  5. Click on the “Extract” or “Unpack” button to extract the contents of the .rar file to the destination folder.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Note that some .rar files may be password-protected. If you encounter a password-protected .rar file, you will need to enter the password in the extraction tool to extract the contents.<\/p>\n

    Also note that newer versions of Mac OS X have built-in support for extracting .zip files, but do not have built-in support for extracting .rar files.
